Socialist Resistance

Socialist Resistance was launched as a Marxist periodical produced in October 2002. In July 2009 it was refounded as a section of the Fourth International, uniting ISG supporters and other individual activists from the environmental, global justice, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist and anti-war movements as well as Respect.

Socialist Resistance

Socialist Resistance is a Marxist organisation with members active in the anti-capitalist and anti-war movements as well as Respect. We are also centrally involved in supporting the positive developments which have occurred in Latin America and defending those countries against imperialist attack.

We believe that capitalism cannot be ’humanised’ - it has to be replaced. We encourage you to join us in the fight to end this system of war, poverty and unemployment and change the world so that the majority of its inhabitants can live in peace.

We fight for:

- Building resistance to the international offensive of the US and Britain, and to the new imperialism. We need the broadest possible campaign against the occupation of Iraq and against the occupation of Palestine.

- A broad socialist party that can give a voice to workers and youth who are disgusted with New Labour. Our supporters build Respect in England and Wales, trying to build it as a broad socialist party. In Scotland we support the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP).

- The rebuilding of the fighting strength of the labour movement. Resistance members help to organise solidarity with workers striking for decent pay and conditions.

- Opposition to racism, the war on the rights of refugees, the oppression of women, lesbians and gay men, and people with disabilities.

- Opposition to the destruction of the environment and for sustainable alternatives.

- Socialist internationalism. Building solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinians and other oppressed national groups, and deepening links with socialist and anti-capitalist and progressive movements across the world.
